Donations to The International Leadership Foundation

The International Leadership Foundation (ILF) is a non-profit organization that promotes the civic awareness, public involvement, and economic effectiveness of the Asian-Pacific American (APA) community. The Foundation aims to prepare the young generation of the APA community to become leaders in the public, business, academic, community, and professional arenas through four programs: the Civic Fellowship Program, the Youth Leadership Academy, the Washington Leadership Program, and the Emerging Leaders Public Forum and International Exchange Program.

The Daofeng & Angela Foundation sponsored the Civic Fellowship Program for the year of 2018. The Civic Fellowship Program is the most prestigious APA civic leadership development program, and it is designed specifically to foster APA emerging leaders in public service. Participants are in a supervised training program for approximately eight to ten weeks. Through the training program, the fellows learn how politics, the policy-making process, and public service are integrated in governance and how to make government work for the community.

The 2018 cohort was comprised of twenty-three students from over nineteen colleges and universities across the nation. The fellows interned across nineteen offices within eight head federal agencies and three congressional offices within both the United States House of Representatives and Senate. The federal agencies include the Department of State (U.S. Agency for International Development), the U.S. Health and Human Services Agency, the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Department of Education, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Department of Treasury, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. During the orientation, many clearly noticed the fellows’ passion for the program they were interning with and impact they wanted to bring for the APA community. Through their observation of  the students’ increasing awareness and passion in public service and politic field, the Daofeng & Angela Foundation truly believe that the social influence of APA will be more pronounced.
